PREP: Ruffino’s Painting usually begins by doing all necessary prep work before thoroughly cleaning and washing off your deck or fence.

WASH: Ruffino’s Painting will then power wash off the deck or fence to remove discolored or rotted wood fibers, dust, dirt, and debris to ensure a clean surface for the stain to be applied. The deck or fence will be left alone to completely dry.

PRODUCTS USED: We use water-based Super Deck by Sherwin Williams, or equivalent on all decks or fences unless specified otherwise in the bid.

PRODUCT APPLICATION: Typically, one or two days later, after the wood has had proper time to dry, we will begin by sanding any splinters on the railing or deck boards and then coating your project. Ruffino’s Painting applies all coatings according to manufacturer specifications to ensure proper warranty. We apply all stains in a one-coat process and if necessary, add a second for coverage or hiding at our discretion. Usually, the coatings are applied the same day.

CLEAN: Ruffino’s Painting will try to clean the job site cleaner than when we arrived. This includes picking up all trash and debris.

TOUCH-UP KIT: A touch-up kit that includes leftovers of each product used is left labeled for your convenience. Each sample is labeled with the color name or number, product type, sheen, and where it is located on the job.
